Gold for Fleetwise
Members of Fleetwise traded in their fleet for feet on Saturday 12th August in this years annual iCare Purple Run team challenge. The Purple run saw local athletes and aspiring, gather in Gosford Forest Park to take on the trees in a 3k, 5k or 10k route around the glorious Co Armagh venue.
This year's iCare Purple Run also saw a team 5k challenge being introduced to show being competitive and charitable can still run side by side. First place went to Fleetwise Ltd with their team of Colum Mackle, Sarah Bond, Tony McKee and Gary McArdle.
iCare's pledged volunteers including Fleetwise staff and participants helped to raise an astounding £8320 through registrations of runners, local business sponsorship and a donation collection on the day of the event.
Proceeds of this year's run were awarded to three worthy charities with cheques presented to SANDS, Air Ambulance and the Fight for Alfie. SANDS (Stillborn and Neonatal Death Support) accepted a cheque of £3800 which has helped fund a new bereavement suit at Craigavon Area Hospital. SANDS was selected in memory Emmet Og Rafferty. The Air Ambulance Northern Ireland accepted a cheque for £3500, helping towards the £2m per year running cost this service is faced with raising each year. The Air Ambulance was selected in memory of local teenager Lesley-Ann McCarragher who sadly past away last year. iCare were also delighted to award £1020 to the Fight for Alfie's Fund, set up to raise funds for Muscular Dystrphy UK's Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund.
Office manager Kerrie quoted, "I thought we would be in with a chance of doing well after seeing the speed of our boys leaving at 5pm on a Friday. We are delighted to be a sponsor of the event for such a worthy cause and an opportunity to bring the community together in staying active. For now, the trophy will be a great addition to our office decor and we can continue training for next year's event"
Fleetwise Ltd would like thank their staff again for their continued support and dedication in helping iCare with the annual Purple Run. Without volunteers it would not be possible for 100% of any funds raised to go directly to the chosen charities.
